Hy ashbass. I have a G5 and I wonder if it's possible to make a selector to change between patches? (but not in home screen, as you showed on the video Patch Select Mod but already in the pacthes menu) Imagine I'm in Patch 1 and I want to change to Patch 2 and acess the other effects.

ashbass reply:
The ashbass G5 Bank Select Mod will do what you ask. It puts having to press two footswitches simultaneously to change banks into having to only press one. You can see the instructions and a video here.

Hey ashbass, I've recently bought a zoom g5 and tried both your patch select and rhythm/tap mods. They both worked a treat and allowed me to use my g5 for live use. But I was wondering welsh ether you could do a similar thing with the scroll buttons along the top? Because I find it very hard to press two foot switches at a time whilst playing standing up, live.

ashbass reply:
Your wish is granted.
Long live Jambi.

Thanks man for a great mod! I had zero problems with your instructions and for about ten bucks, I now have a giggable G3 where I can switch between patches quickly. This mod works great!

ashbass reply:
I'm very glad the mod worked for you. I was lost when I got my G5 and after less that 30 min had it open and was wiring it up for the mods.

Hey man, thanks for sharing the patch mod! I'm gonna give it a go on my Zoom B3, the bass version of the Zoom G3. I imagine it will be the same. Great idea... the patch select issue is one of my pet peeves with the Zoom G/B3 models... no way to quickly change patches, especially during a song.

ashbass reply:
You're welcome. Did you see the Tap Rhythm Mod page as well? That one puts the tap tempo and rhythm on/off buttons in a footswitch.

I have just seen your zoom G3 patch select mod video on Your tube and checked out the stuff on your website. May I start by saying thank you sir. It is an excellent resource and, after speaking to a guy that has done various pedals and mods for me so he can do the switch and housing, I will definitely be giving it a go as it will save a lot of mid song bending down to switch patches.

On the whole I am a very happy zoom g3 owner but I have few probs with practicality issues in operation. The patch switch is one of these problem so thanks for solving that one for me, the other issue is very similar but centres around the rhythm button.

I am a one man act and mostly do looping of vocals, guitars and pitch shifted guitar to bass over the G3's drum machine. This leads to wonderfully interesting situations that involve me trying to keep playing whilst bending down and stopping the drums every time I get anywhere near the end of a song. This is, to say the least, inconvenient, so seeing a relatively simple solution in the form of the FS01, I emailed Zoom to see if there way any chance they could do a firmware update so you could use the FS01 to stop and start the rhythm when in for example the looper section. As this was possible on the zoom G2.1u, which I also own, I was sure zoom would be able to assist. Their reply referred me to the section of manual which tells you what you already know, that when you're not in the rhythm section you use the rhythm button to stop and start the drums. It did say they would take my suggestion onboard and pass it on but I'm guessing its not high on their priority list.

I had given up and was resigned to my fate of dodgy drum drop outs for all eternity until I saw your G3 patch switch mod video which has given me renewed hope. So my question, which I'm praying you can help with, is do you think a similar mod would be possible with the rhythm button on the g3 so an external footswitch could be used to activate and deactivate the rhythm?

If it is possible would you have any idea if the mod would be pretty much the same as the patch select one just connecting to a different solder point. If it is possible and the mod is more or less would you know if I would be correct in guessing that the solder point that controls the rhythm switch on the G3 is the one 2 to the left of the patch select ones as it is with the buttons on the panel. As far as the component list for the mod would go, and again I'm guessing, would it be pretty much identical to the patch select apart from needing just one momentary switch, and mono socket and cabling with it being just the one switch.

Many thanks again for the patch select resource it will be put to good use and thanks in advance for any help you can give with my quest for professional rhythm dropouts using the G3. Here's hoping you can help make my G3 perfect.

Kind regards

ashbass reply:
Thanks for the kind words, Mike. You are correct in that you can mod the G3 to turn Rhythm on/off using the same technique I use to switch patches.

I'd still use a stereo jack and plug, though, as you can wire the tip and the ring to do what you require and leave the sleeve to do nothing. That way you (or your tech) won't have to be careful about not letting the jack come in contact with the G3 chassis.

Good luck and post back with your results.
