teria como o senhor enviar todo o esquema de ligação na placa para meu email?desde já muito obrigado

I don't have any wiring diagrams, really. In the G5 All Mods Mod I have a wiring map that I used to keep track of all the wires and where they were supposed to go. But I have no actual diagrams for what wires go to what switches.

Sure it can do that. It works with other pedals and sound generators just like a regular pedal would.

Hi Ash! i write from Argentina, amazing site, been a while reading and learning from your works. Thanks for that. I have an opportunity to get a FP-02, my intention is to use it to control the expression pedal input of a memory man which uses this 0v to 5v range, do you know if the FP02 is capable of doing that?
cheers from Argentina!

ashbass reply:
I really can't say as I've never had a memory man to work on. If you are getting a good deal then if it doesn't work you can sell it and break even.

Hi! I just stumbled across your site and WOW... now I have more projects to do! I was actually trying to figure out how to get my expression pedal to work along with a tap-tempo pedal and share a Y-adapter, but I couldn't make it work until I tried your suggested mod to the adapter. Thanks!

I'm seriously considering doing your "patch select" and "tap tempo/rhythm" mods and they seem pretty straightforward, but I have one question...

How do you get such great looking graphics on your pedals? I'm hoping you're not going to tell me that you're just a great artist and drew them on yourself, cuz I'll be screwed! ;)

Thanks!

ashbass reply:
I copied the logos out of the pdf manuals for the pedals. Then I pasted them into PowerPoint and adjusted size to taste. Then I printed them out on water decal paper. Then put the logos on the pedals and lastly put several coats of polyurethane over the logos.

Hello there!

Great, great page and Mods! I have a G3 V2.0 and am finally fed up with the crazy button pressing. I have been wondering about the 'practicality' of using the normally closed footswitch for the 'Tap' button.

I really need the ability to still tap tempo and scroll through the FX. I'm assuming that when one holds down on the closed footswitch, I could use my modified up/down, left/right footswiches to scroll (tap button not pressed)? If it works like this, what are the chances of accidentally changing the actual 'tempo' of the delays? I would hate to have the tempo set at 120 (for example), hold down the 'Tap footswicth', scroll to another effect, let off the 'tap footswitch' and have my tempo change to like 45 BPM. :)

While I dig the idea, I could possibly live with the 'latching footswitch' to go from scroll to patch select and tap the tempo when in scroll mode with my pedal in the 'control in' jack .....

Any thoughts?

Many thanks!

ashbass reply:
I think that it would be easier to use a latching switch to toggle between Scroll and Patch and then add a momentary switch that is wired to the Tap connections inside the pedal to do Tap Tempo. I've made some boxes that use an LED to show which mode the switch is in. Many users have done it this way. See the mod examples page to see how others have implemented this plan.

Sorry Ash,
I was meaning the flat ribbon cables which connects the LCDs to the board. Would it be possible to replace one of those?
Thanks

ashbass reply:
I'm sure that you can't get them from ZOOM but you might be able to fix yours. The first G3 I had I wore one of the wires of the ribbon in half by moving the ribbon back and forth too much. I very carefully cut away the plastic around the break and soldered a small wire to both sides. That worked.

The ribbons in the zoom pedals are not soldered to the boards anywhere. They are either pushed into a slot or held in a slot by a small plastic bar that is part of the slot it goes into. The ribbons are not special to Zoom and if you can find a ribbon with the same number of wires in it you can use it to replace the faulty one in your pedal.

Hi Ash,

I've been following you G-series work and comments on the gear page for a long time. We all saw g5n, but other than incorporating your ideas, it's kinda obvious it flopped since we still have to tap dance around amp/cab,gate and other patches that we don't need to see in pedal board mode. That said, something occurred to me hence, a question to you since you're more tech savy. Is it possible to create an add-on mod(switch board) that would, instead of dealing with lateral motion or groups or patches(bank up/down, scroll left/right), work as a selector switch for effect in patch. That way one wouldn't need to scroll left/right, then see if he scrolled enough and finally turn off/on the patch, but only press the button on an extension piece that would activate deactivate an effect.

I can only suspect that kind of rig would be a game changer for MS-50G, where you would have a tiny pocket unit, with a full board 6 effects switching system.

Best regards
P.

ashbass reply:
Yeah, it's funny really that Zoom implemented my workaround for their previous lousy switching systems in their new G5n pedal. Many have bought the new pedal but I won't be joining that party. I think the G5n is pretty lame and is a huge step backward from the G5 feature and models -wise.

That is a great idea if I read you correctly. So for the G5 there would be an external pedal that holds 9 switches, one switch for each available effect module. The G3 pedals would have 6 switches, one for each of its effect modules. Well, I know that I can't make that and I don't believe that it is even possible. There are several people who have successfully accessed features of the G pedals with MIDI. I don't recall seeing what you describe though.
